An homage to black

An homage to black

It was clear that architects have a certain affinity for the colour black long before Cordula Rau wrote her classic book, ‘Why do Architects wear black’.

Black in all its nuances

Black horn-rimmed glasses, a black turtleneck sweater and a particularly smug expression? Anyone with at least two out of these three characteristics is likely to be an architect. Well, according to the cliché, at least. What is certainly true is that black looks elegant, is considered quiet and is a good canvas for creativity.

Material and colour

Velvety matt, glossy reliefs, reflective stripes, sound-absorbing perforations, silky gloss and charred structures. The materials are as varied as the nuances of the different hues of black in the collage. Together with handcrafted wickerwork, Mexican stone tiles, wall panels reminiscent of slate and textile plaster structures, the extensive range of intelligent product solutions from Gira harmoniously rounds off the ensemble.
