Our employees from 28 different nations are our strength.
As a family-run company, it is important to us that everybody is treated as equals. As an integral part of the Gira corporate culture, social responsibility is more than just a buzzword. It is a core value that we embody daily. Equal opportunities, freedom and support for personal development, work-life balance, healthy working conditions, promotion of good cooperation and fair pay – we don't just take responsibility for our employees on paper. Learn more about life as a Gira employee.
Human beings are also at the centre of product development: Gira is synonymous with intelligent building technology with functional design and tangible added value that makes life safer and more comfortable. Despite our international alignment, we remain true to our roots: social and cultural involvement in our region is simply a part of who we are here at Gira.
Bringing family and work together under one roof – together with our partner, Kita|Concept, we have made it possible for our parents with young children to do just that at our Radevormwald site. Thanks to a total of 45 childcare spaces, the next generation is well looked after during working hours.
Our employees should be able to feel at home at Gira and remain healthy beyond their working years. That is why we have made the safeguarding of our employees' physical and mental health and the maintenance of their employability one of our top sustainability goals. To this end, we have introduced active health management, including location-independent fitness offers and personal consultations aimed at safeguarding mental health.
Gira runs two Bistros with specially appointed chefs. It is important to us that our balanced meals are home-made and procured from regional suppliers. And most importantly of all, they must taste good. The introduction of meat-free Tuesdays in 2022 not only raises awareness among our employees of a healthy, vegetarian diet, but also improves our climate balance sheet.
Donations and assistance in emergency situations.
Each year, we provide support where it is most needed in the form of donations and projects. Examples include the restoration of the electricity supply in the Ahr Valley and reconstruction efforts in Ukraine. However, we also support local causes, such as regional food banks, youth centres and retirement homes, through donations of money and goods, for example through the Gira Christmas Miracle Campaign.
