Only a few hundred metres west of the Outer Alster Lake lies the district of Pöseldorf. Bordered by the Rothenbaumchaussee, it consists of quiet residential streets lined with old trees, where one Jugendstil or fin de siècle gem follows the next. One particular highlight on Heimhuder Straße opened its doors for the first time at the end of May: the stilwerk Hotel Heimhude.

The house has 24 rooms, plus a small gym, library and lounge, as well as a reception with a free-standing counter that functions as a bar in the evenings. The highlight of the overall design is the use of furniture from stilwerk’s brand universe, allowing guests to try out the design catalogue. And if they are interested, they can also get direct advice.

A particular focus of the interior design was on the quality and sustainability of the materials, in order to achieve a natural rather than a clinical look. Wood is featured heavily, for example in the warm oak parquet flooring from Bauwerk in all of the rooms. Textiles are also important for creating an interplay of pleasant textures – for example using heavy corduroy fabrics in warm shades. Speaking of which: the natural colours of Caparol Icons – with a focus on matt green – turn all of the rooms into calming retreats. The Gira E2 in black matt and the matching USB socket outlets for convenient charging of digital devices are a perfect fit. The result is a consistent and harmonious design with an inviting atmosphere – in short: a great new place to stay in the centre of Hamburg.
