No small luxury

No small luxury

Square on the outside, round on the inside: the boutique Hotel Petit Luxe in Terrassa, an industrial town north of Barcelona, provides surprising contrasts and a cohesive, welcoming interior designed by LaiaUbia studios.

A masterpiece in coordination

The Petit Luxe on Carrer del Teatre describes itself as the only hotel in Terrassa town centre. Yet we can confidently assume that even in towns with more competition, it would still rank among the prettiest. The hotel, which only opened in 2023, is on a quiet side street and exudes an air of serenity behind a modern façade, characterised by large blocks of natural stone and vertical wooden slats. Large, dark-framed windows and fully glazed balustrades complete the picture, allowing us to anticipate the spacious, airy rooms within. The ground floor features a small reception area with a rounded wooden counter, which leads almost seamlessly into the dining area – with a subtle change in flooring indicating the new space. There is also a small internal courtyard, where guests can enjoy their breakfast coffee in the morning sun.

The same, but different

The Hotel Petit Luxe offers a total of just nine rooms, all suites, all of which are named after women. The rooms all have the same basic design features: natural wooden flooring in a herringbone pattern, lime plastered walls and large, deep arches, which accommodate the bed head and wardrobes in each room. And yet each suite is unique, whether in terms of furniture or artistic expression. For example, in the “Esther” suite, wallpaper with a jungle pattern brings a touch of the wild to the arch behind the bed, while in the “Gemma” suite the same space has a polished agate look. In this way, each room has its own unique personality.

Uncompromising consistency

The interior design team at LaiaUbia studios used a consistent design throughout the whole hotel. Curved arches – often backlit or indirectly lit – and other round shapes such as mirrors and lamps are supplemented by light, warm-coloured woods and white fabrics. This creates light, clean and streamlined spaces which create an instant sense of well-being. And to ensure that everything works smoothly and the guests can enjoy the best possible comfort, a Gira KNX system with a Gira HomeServer operates in the background. The Gira pushbutton sensor 4 System 55 is used as a smart operating element; the switches and socket outlets are from the Gira E2 design line in pure white matt and match the calm, comfortable concept perfectly. It’s also no accident that Gira’s characteristic square shapes fit so well into the “round-square” contrast – it’s by design.
