Buff Medical Resort, a new facility on the shores of Lake Constance, specialises in innovative preventive and regenerative medicine and offers Smart Home technology, one of Germany's few cardiac-MRI machines and a simulated high-altitude climate in the rooms.
An optimal location for health
A premium spot in the heart of the lakeside city of Constance has a new occupant: the Buff Medical Resort is set directly on the shore of Lake Constance in a vast expanse of parkland, and with a surface area of 20,000 m2 it is one of the largest wooden buildings in Germany. Designed by Pablo Horvath from Chur in Switzerland, the angular structure sits atop a plinth building and was constructed with German firm Rebholz Architekten und Ingenieure GmbH acting as general contractor. The exterior of the building has a contemporary orthogonal shape and a high proportion of glass. Inside it offers 118 luxurious rooms with lake-view balconies and a 5000 m2 medical facility offering a total of eight different health programmes lasting between one and three weeks. You can even arrange to arrive by private jet.
A unique offering
The spacious rooms and suites, measuring between 46 and 126 m2, have all been designed with natural materials, such as elegant Swiss pine, and offer guests a sense of well-being and guaranteed lake views. Guests can enjoy excellent gourmet cuisine as well as an exceptional wellness and spa area with indoor and outdoor pools that merge seamlessly into the park. However, the medical services on offer are even more noteworthy. The Buff Medical Resort has one of only a handful of cardiac-MRI machines in Germany, which it uses for risk assessment and prevention. It is also possible to create a specially regulated high-altitude alpine climate in the rooms, which has a beneficial effect on metabolism and strengthens the immune system during sleep.
Backed up by smart technology
Cutting-edge building technology has been installed to ensure the seamless and reliable simulation of a high-altitude climate in the guest rooms. State-of-the-art sensor technology plays a key role in this by continuously monitoring the oxygen saturation of the air in the room. The Gira KNX system is controlled via the Gira HomeServer, which acts as an intelligent control centre that documents and manages all settings data. Setpoints can be defined individually – for example, by the treating physicians – and transferred directly to the KNX system. Guests can view the high-altitude climate settings conveniently and intuitively via the Gira G1 multitouch display. They can also control lighting, room temperature, insect protection blinds and curtains via the Gira G1 – all with a simple tap of their finger. The Gira pushbutton sensor 4.55 is also used and aligns with the resort's philosophy of combining maximum comfort with intuitive operation: the laser-inscribed, internationally recognisable symbols ensure clear and barrier-free user guidance. The building technology is rounded off by the timeless, puristic switches and socket outlets of the Gira E2 design line in black matt – a harmonious detail that perfectly combines function and aesthetics. Everything is thus fully prepared to welcome guests and support their recovery.
