"Form follows function" - or vice versa. With Gira's system modules, such decisions are a thing of the past. The Gira System 55 and System 106 offer maximum design freedom with the greatest possible degree of flexibility when it comes to functions.
It all starts with an idea: lines, materials, light and thoughts as to how everything in a room should interact visually. For this idea to become a functional concept, the electrical installations need to include systems that support your thought process.
Gira modular systems offer just that: a modular basic structure that allows cover frames and functional inserts to be combined at will. This ensures a uniform and harmonious appearance across all of the various functions.
The principle: separation of design and function for even greater flexibility
Planners want to be able to make decisions. Not just about functions, but also about impact. That is why Gira deliberately separates technical and design elements, granting our customers the freedom to create individual configurations.
Functional inserts such as switches, socket outlets or other functions form the basic technical module. Cover frames from a total of seven Gira design lines provide the design element and define the material, colour and shape. They can be combined to create an almost countless number of configurations, providing a solution for almost any structural or design challenge.
Gira System 55
The Gira System 55 is currently the most comprehensive modular system of its kind. Each of the square functional inserts has uniform standard dimensions of 55 × 55 millimetres. This creates a grid that allows you to freely select and combine functional inserts and cover frames offering a variety of functions, materials and colours.
Seven Gira design lines with a total of more than 90 frame variants combine with over 300 functional inserts – from switches and socket outlets to door communication and smart operating elements for Smart Home systems.
This mix-and-match approach allows you to build a system that precisely combines functional requirements with design ideas. Different styles, materials and colours can be used at will while remaining true to the overall design concept.
Gira first came up with the idea of a modular system design back in the 1960s. Back then, we were already working on solutions aimed at standardising technology while maintaining design flexibility. With the introduction of the System 55 in 1998, this principle was transferred to a clear grid for the first time: 55 x 55 mm as a fixed dimension for all functional inserts. The separation of function and design therefore became an integral part of the product logic and shapes many of today's systems at Gira, down to the very last detail.

Gira System 106
Door communication with architectural clarity
Whatever the Gira System 55 can do inside, the Gira System 106 can carry over onto the exterior façade. The modular door communication system is based on square modules measuring 106.5 x 106.5 millimetres. Modules such as a camera, call button, speaker or Keyless In keypad module can be individually combined and either surface-mounted or flush-mounted on the façade. The clear grid creates an impression of ordered design at the entrance while at the same time enabling flexible, future-proof planning based on the modular principle.
