The word “showroom” doesn’t even come close! At the Orac Experience Center in Barcelona, Belgian company Orac is raising the bar when it comes to using high-quality wall coverings and 3D panels to create inspiring spaces. And we mean really raising it!
The full experience
Professional designers and interior designers have a new pilgrimage site in the heart of the Catalan metropolis – more specifically, in the Carrer Rosselló, a stone’s throw from the majestic Passeig de Gràcia boulevard. It is here that Orac has opened its first international showroom, created by the renowned The Room Studio in Barcelona. A multi-level, creative, scenographic concept was created that links together spaces with a wide variety of atmospheres. The idea is to showcase all of the product solutions offered by the company for designing walls and ceilings in both traditional and avant-garde settings, while also meeting the functional and technical requirements for modern presentation with a playful touch.
Dive right in
A visit to the Orac Experience Center begins in a spectacular fashion, as visitors enter directly into the “Cave”, a room characterised by its organically-shaped “rib arches”, with flesh-coloured cladding and indirect backlighting. This is where you will find the reception, the starting point for your journey into the “interior”, which begins by passing through a matching, flesh-coloured curtain. A daring choice. The tour then continues with a variety of experience and presentation spaces, including the “Exhibition Room”, which showcases traditional stucco and profile elements on walls and ceilings, but also features illuminated Egyptian hieroglyphs. There is also the “Immersive Room”, which is designed as a green amphitheatre and allows for both multimedia projections and “hands-on” presentations at a bar, which is of course clad in Orac materials.
Technology seamlessly integrated
However wild and unconventional the design of the individual rooms, one thing remains constant in the background: a precisely functioning technical infrastructure. High-quality projection systems enable immersive room experiences, while a fully equipped show kitchen supports communal formats and events. Even the most basic functions are state-of-the-art. The entire building technology is controlled centrally via a Gira KNX system used in combination with the Gira X1 server. Lighting, air conditioning and safety functions interact efficiently and intelligently. They are controlled via deliberately understated operating elements such as the Gira pushbutton sensor 4.55 and the Gira G1 multitouch display. Switches and socket outlets from the Gira Esprit design line in pure white matt aluminium also fit seamlessly into unusual spatial scenarios and underpin our claim that technology is a natural part of the architecture.
