Gira KNX brightness controller Mini

Even light provided automatically throughout the whole day

With its subtle design and flat profile, the new Gira KNX brightness controller Mini blends nicely into properties with high architectural demands. It controls the lighting on the basis of the available daylight, so that the brightness of the room is constantly maintained at the desired level and fluctuations in natural daylight are smoothly balanced out with artificial light. When there is sufficient daylight, the lighting is turned down and ultimately switched off. The Gira KNX brightness controller Mini blends in harmoniously with its surroundings. The design rings can be given a colour coating so that they match the wall or ceiling, as desired. The Gira KNX brightness controller Mini can be used in nearly every room and area within a property – even outdoors or in rooms with high humidity, where IP 44 is required.

Subtle appearance

The Gira KNX brightness controller Mini blends in harmoniously with its surroundings. The design rings can be given a colour coating so that they match the wall or ceiling, as desired.

Flexible ceiling mounting concept

The flexible housing design makes the Gira KNX brightness controller Mini suitable for use in all rooms and areas. Its IP 44 protection means that it can even be installed outdoors or in rooms with high humidity. The  Gira KNX brightness controller Mini is available in 'ceiling mounting' (standard model), 'flush-mounted box installation', and 'surface-mounted' versions.

Daylight-dependent lighting control

The Gira KNX brightness controller Mini measures the current light intensity, thus providing the option of lighting control depending on the daylight available. This means that the lighting is only switched on when the room is not bright enough. If there is sufficient daylight, the lights stay off. The dusk stage of the brightness sensor can be set via the ETS, by using the teach-in function on the device, or by using communication objects such as the Gira pushbutton sensor 3.

Options for smart lighting control

The Gira KNX brightness controller Mini offers various options for intelligent light control with which lighting in the room can be maintained at a constant pre-programmed level under different daylight effects. Up to three light groups can be controlled, meaning that lamps near the window and far from the window can be regulated individually. As a result, dimming up and dimming down properties can be set flexibly. In addition, the device is able to automatically calculate the required setpoint for the desired light level in the room and set it directly. This prevents annoying oscillations in light intensity.

Installation

The Gira KNX brightness controller Mini is designed to be mounted on the ceiling. It can be installed indoors and outdoors. The flexible installation concept has a great number of installation advantages. As standard, products are shipped as mounting type 'ceiling-mounted' for indoor use. To install the devices, a hole is cut into the ceiling by the installer. who then inserts them into the ceiling and fastens them in place with spring clamps. In combination with different mounting kits for flush-mounted box installation and surface-mounted installation, it is possible to install the devices in existing flush-mounted boxes, or to mount them on surfaces unsuitable for flush-mounted boxes. The devices can also be installed outdoors or in rooms with high humidity. All operating elements on the device are accessible from the front and can be reached by removing the corresponding design ring. The design rings can be painted over.

Start-up

Commissioning is carried out by means of ETS. The KNX product database is based on the brightness controller software module used by the Gira KNX presence detectors, meaning that no familiarisation period will be necessary.
