With its subtle, flat design, the new Gira KNX presence detector Mini Komfort is an ideal choice for properties with demanding architectural requirements. It detects even the smallest movements in the room and enables automatic control of various functions in the KNX system, depending on presence. For example lighting, heating, or ventilation can be controlled entirely as required and in an energy-efficient manner. Thanks to different versions for ceiling mounting, flush-mounted installation, and surface-mounted installation, the Gira KNX presence detector Mini Komfort can be used both indoors and outdoors. Compared to the Standard variant, the Komfort variant offers numerous additional functions. The Gira KNX presence detector Mini Komfort can be controlled via infrared remote control, while additional software features offer even more possibilities for intelligent light control.
Thanks to its subtle design, the Gira KNX presence detector Mini Standard blends unobtrusively with its surroundings. The design rings can be given a colour coating so that they match the wall or ceiling, as desired.
The flexible housing design makes the Gira KNX presence detector Mini Komfort suitable for all rooms and areas. Its IP 44 protection means that it can even be installed outdoors or in rooms with high humidity. The Gira KNX presence detector Mini Komfort is available in 'ceiling mounting' (standard model), 'flush-mounted box installation', and 'surface-mounted' versions.
The Gira KNX presence detector Mini Komfort can be used as an individual device, main unit, or auxiliary unit, and is thus suitable for equipping a wide range of properties. When used as a main unit or auxiliary unit, semi-automatic control is also possible in addition to fully-automatic operation. There is a choice of three preconfigured operating modes: presence detector, ceiling monitor and alarm device. It can also be combined with other Gira KNX presence detectors.
An integrated brightness sensor measures the current light intensity, thus providing the option of lighting control depending on the daylight available. This means that the lighting is only switched on when the room is not bright enough. If there is sufficient daylight, the lights stay off. The dusk stage of the brightness sensor can be set via the ETS, by teach-in function on the device, or using communication objects such as the Gira touch sensor 3.
The short-term presence function is available as an addition to the adaptive overrun time especially for light and climate control in conference and training rooms. If the Gira KNX presence detector Mini Komfort detects motion only briefly, it selects the minimum overrun time regardless of the self-taught adaptive value. As a result, lighting, heating, and ventilation will not remain switched on unnecessarily if somebody enters the room temporarily during a long conference break, e.g. the cleaning staff or catering service.
The Gira KNX presence detector Mini Komfort offers the option of continuously analysing user behaviour to optimise the overrun time (transmission delay) independently. This saves energy and conserves the light source by preventing unnecessary switching on and off. The longer the period during which people are detected in the room, the longer the overrun time. If a room is only entered sporadically for short periods of time, the Gira KNX presence detector Mini Komfort will reduce the overrun time. The minimum and maximum values can be freely defined.
The Gira KNX presence detector Mini Komfort offers various options for intelligent light control, with which lighting in the room can be maintained at a constant pre-programmed level under different daylight effects. Up to three light groups can be controlled, meaning that lamps near the window and far from the window can be regulated individually. As a result, dimming up and dimming down properties can be set flexibly. In addition, the device is able to automatically calculate the required setpoint for the desired light level in the room and set it directly. This prevents annoying oscillations in light intensity.
Settings such as the dusk stage or additional overrun time can be conveniently changed with the infrared remote control, which is available separately. In addition, it is possible to switch the Gira KNX presence detector Mini Komfort on or off manually.
The device is equipped with three digital PIR sensors which cover a range of 360° (3 x 120°). The sensitivity of the sensors can be adjusted and flexibly adapted to individual installation scenarios – which enables movements to be reliably detected and prevents accidental triggering. In addition, the range of detection can be limited using a clip-on screen.
Five configurable function blocks are available for the following operating modes: presence detector, ceiling monitor and alarm device. The function block that is active can be switched – either automatically in the KNX system or manually using any communication object such as the Gira touch sensor 3, in order to change from day mode to night mode, for example. Apart from an additional function block for brightness control with limit value monitoring, there is also an extra function block for light control. If required, this can be linked directly in the device to the presence and motion detection.
The Gira KNX presence detector Mini Komfort is designed to be mounted on the ceiling. It can be installed indoors and outdoors. The flexible installation concept has a great number of installation advantages. As standard, products are shipped as mounting type 'ceiling-mounted' for indoor use. To install the devices, a hole is cut into the ceiling by the installer, who then inserts them into the ceiling and fastens them in place with spring clamps. In combination with different mounting kits for flush-mounted box installation and surface-mounted installation, it is possible to install the devices in existing flush-mounted boxes, or to mount them on surfaces unsuitable for flush-mounted boxes. The devices can also be installed outdoors or in rooms with high humidity. All operating elements on the device are accessible from the front and can be reached by removing the corresponding design ring. The design rings can be painted over.
The system is activated via ETS. The KNX product database is based on the Gira KNX presence detectors' software, meaning that no familiarisation with a new subject matter is necessary.
