Automatic light control for indoors

The Gira KNX automatic control switch with Standard top unit is an infrared motion detector for indoor use that reacts to thermal motion triggered by people, animals or objects. If it detects a thermal motion it sends a switching command to the KNX system so that various actions can then be triggered. The control switch can therefore be preset, for example, to automatically switch on a room's lighting or boost the heating when the signal is triggered, or to open the windows and raise the blinds.

In addition to installation at normal height (1.10 m), the KNX automatic control switch with Standard top unit is also available especially for high installation areas (mounting height = 2.20 m). Gira thus provides the ideal solution for any room.

Wide range

Thanks to its powerful sensors, the KNX automatic control switch with Standard top unit covers a broad range: The model for installation at a normal height (1.10 m) detects movement of heat up to a distance of 10 m at the front and up to 6 m on each side. Depending on the mounting height, the variant for high installation areas (2.20 m) has a frontal range of up to 12 m and a range up to 6 m on each side. The angle of detection is 180°.

Adjustable telegram type

Occupants can decide themselves whether the command signal should be sent at the beginning or the end of the motion detection (e.g. as soon as the detection field is entered or not until it is exited).

Clip-on screen to limit sources of interference

Sources of interference can be blocked by limiting the detection field with the included clip-on screen. The screen can cover the left or right half of the detection field (90° each).

Walking test function

Using the helpful walking test function to check the exact range of detection assists in adapting the device even more precisely to the needs of occupants.

Alarm function when the automatic control switch top unit is removed

If the top unit is removed without authorisation, the KNX automatic control switch triggers an alarm to warn the occupants.

Installation

The KNX automatic control switch with Komfort top unit is inserted on a flush-mounted bus coupler. The top-unit lens type for the 1.10 m mounting height should be utilised if small animals such as dogs and cats shouldn't be detected. The optimum range is achieved when the sensor is mounted sideways to the direction of movement. Otherwise, a loss of range is to be expected. As the KNX automatic control switch reacts to thermal motion, no interference sources such as lamps or heaters should be located in the device's detection field. Aligning the device in the direction of the sun should likewise be avoided as the high degree of thermal energy could destroy the automatic control switch's sensors.
