The new Gira Dual Q smoke alarm device is equipped with two detection processes and thus achieves twice the level of safety. It visually identifies small smoke particles before the situation gets too precarious and dangerous for people. In addition, thermal sensors measure temperature changes within the room. In this way various types of fires, such as liquid fire, can be registered more rapidly and reliably identified.
Alarm behaviour can also be better controlled in areas with unavoidable interferences such as kitchen vapours, dust and electrical interference. The service life of the permanently installed battery is guaranteed to be at least 10 years. For even more safety, convenience and efficiency, the functions of the Gira Dual Q smoke alarm device can be networked and expanded through optionally available devices.
Networking
Holder of a 'Q' quality seal, the Gira Basic Q smoke alarm device meets the stringent quality criteria of vfdb (German Fire protection Association) guideline 14-01 and DIN EN 14604:2009-02. The Q stands for verified durability and the reduction of false alarms with simultaneously increased stability, e.g. against external factors.
The Gira Dual Q smoke alarm device detects smoke accumulation using the principle of photoelectric scattered light measurement with processor-controlled signal analysis. A light diode in the smoke chamber emits light beams. Smoke penetrating the chamber interrupts these light beams and diverts them to a receiver diode. The alarm is triggered.
The Dual Q smoke alarm device detects the build-up of heat via an additional thermal sensor. In this way various types of fires, such as liquid fire, can be registered more rapidly and reliably identified. Alarm behaviour can also be better controlled in areas with unavoidable interferences such as kitchen vapours, dust and electrical interference.
The Gira wireless diagnostic tool enables Gira smoke alarm devices Dual Q to be checked at ground or floor level or from outside the room, for example from stairways. It consists of the wireless diagnostics USB box and the wireless diagnostics software in German and English. The data is transferred without removing the device.
For even more safety, comfort and efficiency, the functions of the Gira Dual Q smoke alarm device can be expanded through optionally available devices: Networking up to 40 devices by wire or wirelessly, checking their functionality at ground or floor level or even from outside the room, integrating them into the KNX system or connecting them to external alarm devices.
The Gira Dual Q smoke alarm device continuously monitors its smoke analysis and checks the battery voltage. Any faults are indicated by a fault signal (signal tone and LED). The Gira Dual Q smoke alarm device signals that the device will have to be replaced 30 days in advance. The device remains completely functional during this period.
Thanks to its disassembly safeguard, the Gira Dual Q smoke alarm device is also highly suitable for installation in kindergartens, commercial properties and rental properties. The disassembly safeguard can be optionally activated on the mounting plate. Afterwards the locking mechanism can only be opened with a tool – for maintenance work, for example.
Thanks to its dual technology, the Gira Dual Q smoke alarm device can be installed in any room – even in kitchens and bathrooms. The optical smoke detection using photoelectric scattered light measurement can be switched off for 15 minutes if cooking produces an unusual amount of vapour. The thermal sensors still guarantee reliable fire protection in the room.
Smoke alarm devices are lifesavers – and must therefore be able to do their job reliably in case of an emergency. For this reason, you must ensure that they are correctly installed. In order to ensure that smoke alarm detectors are professionally installed in accordance with DIN 14676, the standard provides recommendations for verifying the professional competence of service providers performing the planning, installation and maintenance of such devices.
The Gira smoke alarm device has optimum detection characteristics when mounted on the ceiling in the middle of the room. If this is not possible, observe a minimum distance of 50 cm from the wall. A smoke alarm device can monitor a room with a maximum area of 60 m² and a maximum room height of 4.50 m. Where smoke alarm devices should be positioned to guarantee minimum protection varies depending on the design of the house or apartment. In single-story apartments, the hallway used most frequently in case of fire should be part of the minimum configuration. In multi-story buildings, the hallways of each story must be included. However, it is advisable to equip all rooms for optimum protection.
