From new system modules to innovative product solutions for door communication: Gira showcased a number of new products at this year’s Light + Building 2026, the world’s leading trade fair for lighting and building technology. Read on for details of the product highlights that should be on your planning radar.
Trade fairs have always been regarded as the central stage for product innovations in the construction industry. The more sizeable world-leading trade fairs, such as Light + Building, focus attention, provide impetus, define trends and often mark the moment when manufacturers present newly developed products to the wider public for the first time. Gira used its appearance at this year’s trade fair to present a broad range of product innovations.
The Gira Architecture editorial team will reveal the new product solutions that are of particular relevance for interior design and architecture planning and that are sure to set designers’ pulses racing.
A brief overview of the curated highlights
Gira System 70
Our favourite of the new product solutions: The Gira System 70 offers a new modular system for switches, socket outlets and more than 200 additional large functional inserts in the 70 × 70 mm format and a total of four different design lines.
Gira IP door communication
The new IP-based door communication system goes a step beyond conventional door communication and, thanks to its cutting-edge technology, opens up a whole host of additional possibilities when it comes to planning, commissioning and use. From single-family homes to complex, large-scale projects with up to 1000 units – whether new builds or existing buildings.
Smart Home solutions
New pushbutton sensors for KNX and Gira One add further functions to the existing Gira System 55 and Gira System 70 modular systems. In addition, the second generation of the Gira G1 multi-touch central unit provides a more powerful means of operating Smart Home systems.

Gira System 70
Minimalist design. Maximised possibilities.
The Gira System 70 transforms the iconic Gira F100 design line, which dates back to 1966, into a state-of-the-art, modular design system. With functional inserts measuring 70 × 70 mm, the system combines streamlined design and high-quality touch and feel with smart technology.
Four design lines, each in five colours and with over 200 functional inserts, offer maximum design freedom and can be installed as flush-mounted, surface-mounted or flat variants. A distinction is made between the Gira F100, Gira F200, Gira F200 flat and Gira F300 design lines, each of which offers its own design characteristics.
Our design highlights are the F200 design line – especially in the flat installation variant – and the F300 design line. Puristic, straight edges and frame variants without a crossbar ensure a minimalist look and form the ideal basis for sophisticated interior design.
The Gira System 70 will be available from September 2026, together with the corresponding design lines and functional inserts.
Gira IP door communication
Flexible, modular and scalable thanks to new technology.
With its new IP door communication technology, Gira is converting the classic doorbell system into a digital standard. Rather than using analogue two-wire technology, the system is based on IP technology and therefore offers flexibility for programming and adaptation. In terms of planning, this means that: Subsequent changes can be made to door communication without any impact on the fabric of the building.
The added value really comes to the fore in projects involving a large number of units or varying uses. Name changes, adaptations or extensions take place digitally, for example via central multi-touch displays, without the need to replace physical doorbell signs or update wiring. At the same time, start-up is significantly simplified, as systems can be set up and adapted more quickly. This reduces the scope of start-up and creates greater scope for implementation.
The system can also be retrofitted in existing buildings: The existing two-wire infrastructure can continue to be used and made compatible with IP technology using a converter. This removes the need to fully replace the wiring. The new technology builds on the existing technology and makes it compatible with modern connection requirements.
Gira System 106 IP
With the IP System 106, Gira provides a modular door station that has been specially developed for IP-based door communication. As a visible element on the façade, it can be individually configured according to the project requirements and features a clear design language.
The system is based on a modular principle in a 106.5 × 106.5 mm grid and consists of modules that can be freely combined, for example for camera, call button, access control or display solutions. The integrated multi-touch display offers a meaningful alternative to traditional bell panels in larger-scale projects involving many units, as names can be managed digitally and selected directly.

Gira IP video home station
The Gira IP video home station pairs with the modular door station to handle indoor door communication. It provides a direct connection to the entrance area and combines video and intercom functions in one compact operating element.
Visitors can be identified via the integrated 7-inch HD touch display, which also provides direct door opening control. A built-in image memory captures missed visitors and ensures additional everyday security. Thanks to its compact size and IP-based door communication, the home station can be flexibly integrated into a diverse range of building types, whether new builds or existing buildings.

Smart Home solutions
New operating elements for greater living comfort
Smart Home systems are themselves evolving, bringing ever more demanding requirements for the design and application options of operating elements. Several new Gira pushbutton sensors have been introduced for KNX and Gira One, expanding the scope of the existing functional inserts for the Gira System 55 and Gira System 70 with additional functions and providing even greater convenience with the quality of design our customers have come to expect. As a central multi-touch operating element, the second generation of the Gira G1 offers faster performance and with it, even more efficient control of the Smart Home system.
Pushbutton sensor 4.55 Plus for KNX
The Gira pushbutton sensor 4.55 Plus for KNX adds a versatile operating element with integrated display to the available options for building automation. It allows for the direct control of central functions such as lighting, shading, room climate or scenes via up to eight freely programmable buttons, while simultaneously displaying relevant status information.
The system offers a clear and simplified user interface thanks to the combination of the operating surface with visualisation in the form of individually configurable displays featuring text and icons. The system is supplemented by integrated temperature and humidity sensors, which enable additional functions within the KNX control. The pushbutton sensor is available from April 2026 and can be combined with all Gira System 55 design lines.
Gira pushbutton sensor 4.70
The Gira pushbutton sensor 4.70 combines the functions of the pushbutton sensor 4 with the large operating surface of the Gira System 70, thereby transferring tried-and-tested KNX functionality to the new modular system. Key functions such as lighting, shading, room climate or scenes can be controlled directly via a number of buttons, and flexible control options can be implemented in the Standard or Komfort version.
The different versions offer different functional scopes, from the variant with an integrated temperature sensor to the Komfort version, which features additional sensors for temperature, humidity and air quality. The pushbutton sensor is also available as a 4-gang variant and can be seamlessly integrated into all Gira System 70 design lines and installed in the corresponding colours. The Gira pushbutton sensor 4.70 will be available from September 2026.
Gira pushbutton sensor 4.55 Detect
Gira is expanding its System 55 range with the Gira pushbutton sensor 4.55 Detect operating element, which combines classic control with smart sensor technology. In addition to manual operation of lighting, shading or room climate, the pushbutton sensor also reacts to movement and approach, enabling a more automated approach to use in buildings. This is supplemented by sensors for temperature, humidity and air quality, allowing functions to not only be controlled, but also adapted based on room conditions.
As a Gira System 55 functional insert, the pushbutton sensor can be integrated into the various design lines, thereby contributing to the uniform design of electrical installations throughout the building. The Gira pushbutton sensor 4.55 Detect will be available from November 2026.
Gira G1: The nerve centre of the Smart Home
Building technology is only as smart as its control system. The new second-generation Gira G1, which serves as the central control unit for Smart Home systems, makes operation even more intuitive. Lighting, shading, room climate, entertainment and door communication can be conveniently controlled via the enlarged touch display with noticeably faster performance.
Functions are centrally bundled and clearly visualised via the 7" touch display. Automatic brightness adjustment and regular software updates support continuous everyday use. The range of functions is supplemented by integrated door communication with camera view and speakerphone function, and it also displays weather data, sensor values and system statuses.
The Gira G1 XS offers a more compact variant with a 6" touch display and a more limited range of functions, which is particularly well-suited to specific areas of application. Both devices are already available.
